The Zoo Trip!

26 08 2009

So this is the last and final post…with pictures from our wonderful trip to the Delhi Zoo. It was just a magical day, with a light drizzle, a cool breeze, and a warm sun peeking through the clouds every now and then. It was the very best way to say goodbye…Thank you all for your love and support of our project. We are all very grateful. There are hundreds more pictures and videos, and if you are interested, please leave your details in a comment and I’ll get back to you. A very special thanks to my wonderful family at I House, Berkeley, for their encouragement, and the Davis Projects for Peace Foundation for the generous support that made this project possible. We could not have done it without you.

The Blogging Begins!

13 07 2009

After a frustratingly long wait, we were finally able to begin micro-blogging (it’s currently a cut and paste job, but we’ll do live blogging soon!). Though we’ve had tons of fun doing videos (a brand new one coming SOON, with the kids helping to make a stellar “vlog” entry), but now we’ve finally got our micro-blogging site up and running!

Here’s our site, visit us!

Taking Pictures!

7 07 2009

The kids had “photo day” during which the kids got to take pictures of anything “nice” they wanted to capture about their home. Here’s a few…

They ARRIVED!

18 06 2009

They arrived! If you haven’t been following this blog closely…well, I mean the tables and the chairs arrived. More soon…but check out the reaction of the kids to the arrival: priceless!

AFTER: The painting’s done! Much better, huh? We’re waiting to go ahead and get the tables and chairs so the kids can get started studying with a little more comfort!

Hi everyone! This multilingual, multi-authored blog is a part of my summer 2009 Davis Peace Price project. The blog authors are the wonderful kids at an orphanage in a suburb of New Delhi, India, and they will be blogging in English, Hindi, Bengali, and possibly Sanskrit throughout the summer. The site goes active on June 1, 2009.
